The ULTRA-FLOR™ System

ULTRA-FLOR and ULTRAFLOR Premium are specifically designed processes that produce an extremely hardened, dust-proofed, reflective surface that imparts chemical, abrasion and stain resistance to concrete floors.

Through the ULTRA-FLOR system ordinary concrete floors are transformed into highly decorative, quality floor surfaces well suited for high-end retail, commercial, institutional, and architectural applications.

ULTRA-FLOR is a multi-step process incorporating a mechanical application of progressively finer diamond grinding of concrete floor surfaces with applications of patented Flor-Sil lithium hardener and Flor-Guard hybrid-lithium finishing products. These environmentally friendly, VOC compliant liquids are micro-polished through simple steps utilizing Flor-Grit diamond polishing pads.

The ULTRA-FLOR process extends the life of the concrete far in excess of the traditional polishing process, while enhancing the appearance of the surface. Ultimately, this results in superior durability, exceptional shine retention, and lower life-cycle costs in comparison to most all floor coating/covering systems. ULTRA-FLOR produces a quality, polished concrete floor appropriate for retail establishments, restaurants, residential interiors, food stores, automotive and commercial locations.

Increased Ambient Lighting

High light reflectivity of polished concrete is an important benefit for office buildings, hotels, restaurants, and other public facilities that want to project a bright, clean, professional image. Polishing can give concrete a higher degree of shine and reflectivity, similar to polished marble or granite, than can be achieved with a high-gloss coating. This means greater visibility and fewer overhead lights (decreased maintenance costs) required in buildings utilizing polished concrete floors.

ULTRA-FLOR polished concrete utilizes low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which makes it an environ-mentally friendly surface. There are no coatings applied, such as epoxies, urethanes, or waxes. There is no slurry or hazardous waste. Polished concrete floor systems are also recognized by the United States Green Building Council and LEED certification as an environmentally friendly flooring option. Specifically, the polished concrete floor advantages for LEEDs relates to lower use of interior lights, use of existing floor system and low VOC use.

Lower Lifetime Cost

Another benefit of the ULTRA-FLOR system is lower maintenance cost. In high traffic areas especially, such as schools, hallways and corridors, ULTRA-FLOR holds up better and lasts longer than traditional floor covering systems. Not only are polished concrete floors easy to clean, requiring only damp mopping, they can resist scuff marks and tire marks. They also eliminate the need for messy waxes or coatings, as well as the associated labor, time, and expense to apply them.

Polished concrete is a dense surface that resists staining from oils or liquids, and has a longer lifespan than materials such as vinyl composite tile (VCT) or upgraded stone tile, see table of floor maintenance costs. Depending on the traffic, ULTRA-FLOR needs only to be refinished once every one to five years. In addition, the downtime required for the ULTRA-FLOR process is minimal, allowing service or traffic on the surface to begin almost immediately.

Benefits with ULTRA-FLOR™:

• High quality decorative floor
• Allows transmission of water vapor through the slab where hydrostatic pressure is an issue
• Process is virtually dust-free, allowing the use of the facility during floor installation
• No dusting of the concrete floors after installation
• Long lasting, extremely low-maintenance floor
• Results produce a “green” floor due to improved lighting efficiency, use of current structure, and water-only maintenance system
• Variable-finish products are offered to produce multiple degrees of gloss with the option of standard color finishes and a full spectrum of customizable concrete colors available
